In 1985, I slid in the World Luge Championships on the Hammastrand track. It was physically demanding yet fun for me. We always said if you missed "Ding" (the curve) you'd get "Donged" (the following curve). Tim Nardiello and I slid together in doubles for this one race as my regular doubles partner was not with me. Tim and I tipped on our sides through one curve, slid that way through the whole curve and then miraculously were projected such that we landed on upright in perfect sliding position. We felt great about that run. The final run of competion did not go so well. We got donged and slid to just short of the uphill finish line. We then picked up the sled and walked through the finish both touching the sled so that we would not be disqualified. The people of Sweden were great host and it was a memorable race. - Frank Masley —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.80.144.77 (talk) 19:30, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
