Number on trial

[edit]

The introduction says 4 others were on trial, but the contemporary account of the case says 79. Is there a distinction between the 79 and the 4?Johnragla (talk) 03:21, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

executees

[edit]

Is "executees" a proper word? Should not the sentence be re-worded to avoid this term?Royalcourtier (talk) 23:12, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The only New Zealander executed for treason?

[edit]

To my knowledge, at least one other New Zealander has been executed for treason. Captain Patrick Stanley Vaughan Heenan ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Stanley_Vaughan_Heenan ) of the British Indian Army, who was New Zealand born, spied for the Japanese during the Invasion of Malaya, was arrested and convicted of espionage and treason. He was never formally sentenced, however, as the British continued to lose the battle, and as he taunted his guards that he would soon be free, they decided to take matters into their own hands, and executed him. 2605:8D80:506:BD58:8529:CBA:81DA:75B9 (talk) 22:34, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
