Cleanup 2007-04-30

[edit]

I've cleaned up the article to address notability concerns. I've also marked the article as a stub; I refrained from expanding it further because I am an employee and want to stay on the right side of the NPOV policy. 24.60.149.101 22:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC) Paul B[reply]

POV sanitization

[edit]

Recent edits to this article have removed sourced historical material referring to fraud charges against school's former owner and principal, involving the school's funds; these were removed either without reason or because they are "unsubstantiated" and involve former "employees".[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] This is problematic because:

  1. An encyclopedia article article should include historical information. It is neither a "current"[10][11] listing nor a promotional brochure.[12]
  2. The claim that these sourced issues are "unsubstantiated" is unexplained, and the editors removing these items are not engaging in conversation beyond occasional edit summaries.
  3. At least one of these two non-IP editors (PEGSchools (talk · contribs)) has an obvious conflict of interest. The other (Imattjc (talk · contribs)), while not avowedly representing Hallmark Institute (or its current owner, Premier Education Group), has only edited this article, and then only to remove sourced information or add unsourced "current" information.

It would be nice for someone removing objectionable content to make a case for these revisions in talk so that more formal dispute resolution need not be initiated.

Please understand that this article is not WP:OWNed by Hallmark Institute, nor by Premier. So changes made by representatives of Hallmark or Premier will still need to be reliably sourced. Futhermore, Wikipedia is not under obligation to keep the article in a state dictated by Hallmark or Premier.

A case for omitting certain information can probably be made, but repeatedly deleting without discussion or establishing a WP:CONSENSUS of editors is not the way to do it. This is not supposed to be an WP:ATTACK on the school, but it is expected to be WP:NPOV, not an advertisement. Please discuss. / edg 15:36, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements

[edit]

1. You must give the origin of name Hallmark. Was the school by any chance related to the Hallmark greeting card co. of Kansas City, which owns, or once owned, one of the nation's major collections of photography?

2. hallmark.edu seems kaputtgegangen. To avoid the embarrassment of a Wikipedia or other bot coming in and hi-liting it in red as a dead link, suggest you delete all mentions of it; or replace it w. whatever URL supersedes it.

3. Turners Falls is not one of the 351 municipalities of Mass. Suggest you change it to Turners Falls, Montague, Mass.
