This article seems to imply Hallade originated the idea of measuring the versine/sagitta of a circular arc

But that idea is much older, and was common practice for railroad (etc.) surveying in the USA starting at latest in the 1850s. I'm not sure about the UK.

Can someone figure out precisely what Hallade's specific contributions were, and make this article more precise, so that we're not implying that older ideas originated with Hallade? –jacobolus (t) 19:27, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
