Brettle
[edit]Where is Brettle? I've not found any other sources for the existence of the place?! Pontificake (talk) 16:36, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's in Brierly hill. Only really found now in road names and surnames Cal3000000 (talk) 16:19, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
Local ACF unit - needs rewrite
[edit]The reference to the local Army Cadet Force unit is clumsily written as copied below:
Hereford and Worcestershire ACF/Army Cadet Force a well known mercian regiment of A company in the acf also holds a good amount of cadets.
The title would be better expressed as "Hereford and Worcestershire Army Cadet Force (ACF)" as the slash makes it look like two separate entities bracketed together. As both son of an ACF officer and a former Army Cadet (in Shropshire) myself I can say local ACF units are usually titled "Detachments", and a unit is usually described as a detachment of X company of Y county ACF, not as a regiment. I suspected that the "mercian regiment" is the locally recruiting regiment whose cap badge the unit is permitted to wear. (There is a Mercian Regiment within the Army Reserve (ex Territorial Army) which covers the Midlands (Mercian) counties. The cadet unit is entirely cadets with adult instructors and officers, so "also holds a good amount of cadets" is surely a redundant description. I leave it to local users to confirm the details.Cloptonson (talk) 13:51, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
