Date of birth, seeking confirmation and a source.

[edit]

Eurohockey, HockeyReference, HockeyDB, Eliteprospects and Olympedia appear to agree to Haldor being born on January 6th, 1900.

The gravestone as picture of which is posted on his grave profile at findagrave appears to indicate the year 1899.

Where did January 7th come from? Where did 1898 come from?

I gave my best shot to looking him up in the 'Book of Icelanders' whose access is limited to Icelandic residents as far as I know but wasn't able to confirm anything.

So in regards to that, a definite source to Haldors date of birth would be nice. Lafi90 (talk) 06:32, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Lafi90 He is not listed in Íslendingabók, most likely as he was not born in Iceland and was never an Icelandic citizen. This 2002 article in the Icelandic Morgunblaðið lists his birth date as January 6, 1899. This death notification from 1965, lists him as 66-years old at the time of his death which does concur with him being born in 1899. However, this 1930 article from the Kansas City Times states he was born on January 2, 1900. But it also wrongly states his first name is Harold, not Haldor, so its reliability can be questioned. The Manitoba Historical Society also lists him as born on January 6, 1899. They also list several sources, including birth registration, although they are not available online as far as I can see. Alvaldi (talk) 14:39, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
January 6th, 1899 it is then. Lafi90 (talk) 01:48, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
