I haven't checked the Japanese and European patents, but the US 4,794,455 was filed on March 21, 1988 and granted on December 27, 1988, so it expired in March 21, 2008. Looks like H.261 might be patent free in the US. Jrincayc (talk) 03:22, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
