Works

In this section the photograph "Brig Upon the Moonlight" is incorrect. The correct name is Brig Upon the Water. My source for this information is the text book A world History of Photography (fourth edition) by Naomi Rosenblum. JKMX (talk) 21:42, 4 February 2010 (UTC)JKMX[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Train station with train and coal depot by Gustave Le Gray1.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on January 25, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-01-25. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 20:55, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Train station photo by Gustave Le Gray
A mid-1800s photo of a train station with train and coal depot, taken by Gustave Le Gray, "the most important French photographer of the nineteenth century" because of his technical innovations in the still-new medium of photography and his role as the teacher of other noted photographers. Two of his photographs were sold in 1999, setting world records for most expensive single photograph ever sold at auction.Restoration: Lise Broer

Date of death

[edit]

Different all over reliable sources give either the 29th or the 30th of July 1884 as date of death (cf. d:Q982549#P570). Does anyone have more insight? Thanks in advance, --Marsupium (talk) 12:29, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
