There is another website to do with Guiseley at www.guiseley.co.uk

Barbara Haydock

[edit]

I've removed the mention of Barbara Haydock from the page on Guiseley yet again. I don't consider Barbara to be notable enough to have an entry here. Her own entry was deleted for being non-notable earlier this year [1]. What do others think? Dupont Circle 17:57, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have again reverted the page for the very same reason Dupont Circle 13:56, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brian Close

Em, so where did he grow up - according to this page it was Guiseley, but he is also listed as Yeadon and Rawdon? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.89.167.121 (talk) 07:27, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page resturcture

[edit]

This page is looking a little bit substandard when compared to pages for other areas in Leeds, especially being as Guisley is a town in its own rights, therefore more notable then the subjects of many better pages. The page needs the following:

  • Additional images (in particularly of the town centre), the current image on its own does not adequately illustrate the town to the reader.
  • The page needs dividing into subject sections (e.g. Lead statement, History, Location, Governance, Transport, Amenities, Sport, See also, External links, References)
  • The current detail needs to be vastly embelished with relevent citations.

I intend to endevour to imrpove the page shortly, however with limited time and not living in the Guisley/Yeadon end of the city, I can not make great progress in a short time. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, especially with the photography elements. Ta, Mtaylor848 (talk) 15:24, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 7 August 2018

Why is Guiseley shown as having a Leeds post town? It doesn't, it is Guiseley. Not leeds. Someone keeps changing it back to Leeds and now it is locked. Ridiculous from the admin MH253 (talk) 13:31, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The article is correct as written per List of post towns in the United Kingdom and LS postcode area. If all of these articles are inaccurate, please provide reliable sources to support your request. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 13:38, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Guiseley is the town, but LEEDS is the post town. As an example, the address for Guiseley Theatre from the Royal Mail website:

Guiseley Theatre The Green Guiseley, LEEDS LS20 9BT https://m.royalmail.com/mt/www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode?un_jtt_v_address=Guiseley+Theatre++The+Green%2C+Guiseley%2C+LEEDS%2C+LS20+9BT&un_jtt_v_printaddress=Guiseley+Theatre__+The+Green__Guiseley%2C+LEEDS__LS20+9BT Geofpick (talk) 14:40, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Guiseley is also served by the stations of Menston to the north and Baildon to the south."

[edit]

I've removed this line as it really wouldn't be the case. If we take the Wetherby Whaler to be the furthest point of Guiseley, it's twice as far to Menston station as it is to Guiseley. And no one would use Baildon station if they lived in Guiseley Dupont Circle (talk) 10:11, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
