Keirstead

[edit]

The ancient noble family von Schierstädt including Dr Hans Schierstede originated here. One branch of his family are the ancestors of the Keirsteads of Canada. The name of the town has nothing to do with cherries (Kirsche) as suggested by hobby genealogists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.157.60.194 (talk) 15:49, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The von Schierstädt/von Schierstedt family still exists in Germany https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_Ludwig_von_Schierstedt and https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luise_von_Schierstedt and http://www.xing.com/profile/Christoph_vonSchierstaedt and https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Barbara_Sch%C3%B6neberger . Friedrich von Schierstedt, who bought the house Grötzke in 1421 is the progenitor of all living von Schierstedts http://www.buro-klieken.de/Lattorff.htm — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.131.66.80 (talk) 01:28, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
