cs1 langauge parameter

[edit]

Editor ZH8000 reverted my edit with the edit summary correct. The |language= parameter in cs1 templates accepts language names and ISO 639 codes that are recognized by MediaWiki. 'Walser German' is not recognized by as a language name by MediaWiki. This simple parser function test shows what MediaWiki considers to be the correct language name for the ISO 639-3 code wae (taken from the Walser German article):

{{#language:wae|en}} → Walser

This result comports well with the ISO 639 custodian's definition of the ISO 639-3 code wae.

The cs1 templates will accept either wae or Walser in |language=:

{{cite book |title=Title |language=wae}}Title (in Walser).
{{cite book |title=Title |language=walser}}Title (in Walser).

When the value assigned to |language= is not a MediaWiki accepted code or language name, the template adds the article to Category:CS1 maint: Unrecognized language where I found and corrected it.

Accordingly, I have reverted Editor ZH8000's edit.
