Greg O'Connor - Info REMOVED??

[edit]

Hi. I am helping Greg with his Wikipedia page. I added three items on July 3,2023. And since then, nearly half the page has been removed by Sundayclose and The Green Star Collector. Not only were the items from July 3 removed. But dozens of items added and approved on 12:47, 20 April 2023‎ by David Gerard and additional items from 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019 and 2018 have also been removed. Most of what was removed has been on Wikipedia for over five years? This seems malicious and unwarranted? How can we at least get back to what we had prior to July 3? We will find other sources to cite other than Discogs, the actual movie and production websites, and AllMusic. But please revert back to all that had already been added, reviewed and approved prior to July 3. Thanks! Joey6strings (talk) 19:00, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon me? I don't recall removing any information from the page. I just changed "US" to "U.S." in the infobox to match the preferred formatting. ★ The Green Star Collector ★ (talk) 19:23, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Joey6strings, if you are "helping Greg with his Wikipedia page" or have any other relationship (paid or unpaid) with Mr. O'Connor, be aware of some important matters. First, you have a conflict of interest and must declare that on your talk page. Read WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIO for details about what this means for you and the possible problems associated with COI editing. Read carefully about your requirement to declare your conflict of interest and don't make any more edits to this article until you have made that declaration. I have added a "conflict of interest" template at the top of the article to alert other editors. Do not remove the template under any circumstances without a clear consensus on this talk page. If you don't want others to change your edits, then don't edit the article. At this point, your account is considered a single-purpose account; although that is not a policy violation in and of itself, it does tend to raise questions in other editors' thinking about possible issues related to bias and neutrality. Second, neither you nor Mr. O'Connor own the article just because it's about him. The opinions of you and Mr. O'Connor carry no more weight about how this article should be written than the opinion of any other Wikipedia editor. I assume in good faith that by "his Wikipedia page" you mean the article about him, not "his" page as in ownership. Third, it doesn't matter how long something has been on Wikipedia, if it is unsourced or improperly sourced, it can be removed. Length of time improperly sourced material has remained in an article has no bearing on whether it complies with Wikipedia's policies. Read WP:V for the policy and WP:RS for what is considered a reliable source. Fourth, be very careful about using words like "malicious" when referring to another editor; it could be considered a personal attack and result in a block from editing. Fifth, take the time to actually read the edit summaries for my edits. Almost all of them were for inadequate sourcing. These edits should not be restored without citation to better sources. Sixth, Mr. O'Connor may have edited this article in the past. If it is at all possible that you are Mr. O'Connor and edited with a different account, be aware that Wikipedia can easily determine whether two accounts are being operated by the same person. In many cases, that is a policy violation and can result in a block. Read WP:MULTIACCOUNT for possible issues and limitations. And finally, it is very important that you click all the blue links in my message and carefully read all the relevant policies and guidelines. Thanks. @Joey6strings: Two serious problems: You edited without declaring your conflict of interest. And despite being specifically warned not to remove the COI template, you removed it. You are on the fast track to losing your editing privileges. Sundayclose (talk) 21:45, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
