Cleanup

[edit]

Please provide a message as to what you want improved. Especially provide evidence as to what p[art of the article has neutrality problems. This is a stub and mentions very little about this actors career. MarnetteD | Talk 21:49, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uh... I have to strongly disagree there. The entire article is about the individual's achievements, appearances, etc. It's overcoverage, and there's very little encyclopaedic coverage; it's not far off from being purely promotional. On top of that, there are no actual references, only a couple of external links at the end. As for copyediting, the article's content is disjointed and poorly worded, split into excessive simple sentences and paragraphs, and overall needs a cleanup. Of course you are not going to assist with any of the copyediting. What else would you have on an actors page then their performances and awards. This is actually par for the course for virtually every actor page on wikipeida. This looks much more like someone being trying to make a point. MarnetteD | Talk 21:58, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a problem with my behaviour, WP:WQA is thataway. I have helped with the article by pointing out issues which need resolving. I will stop by and clean it up a bit if and when I get chance. I am a volunteer like everyone else, and do not intend to rush to take on the whole job of cleaning up this poorly-written article myself because you feel like making borderline personal attacks. I suggest discussing how to improve the article, not commenting on my choice of editing. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 22:02, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If the neutrality of the article is disputed, we need information about what point of view (covered in secondary sources) is not currently represented in the article, to balance out those areas that you (or anyone else) feel are covered excessively. The only expressed concern is that it's "purely promotional" - well, if secondary sources only have positive things to say then that's what will be in the article. Such things could be thinned out if they excessively dominate the article, or re-written if they use an overly promotional tone (which at present, they don't - in my opinion.) I am going to remove the neutrality dispute template unless there is some indication of something to dispute about.

I am going to remove the unreferenced template because the article has at least some references from reliable secondary sources.

I am going to remove the copy editing template because there appear to be no spelling or grammatical errors and nothing glaringly problematical about the style used. If there is an issue with how the article is phrased or presented, then any editor can go ahead and fix that.

  • I've added an advert tag instead, since that more accurately represents my concerns than npov. The article reads more like a CV than an encyclopaedic article, and more information is required than simply a list of the individual's achievements, appearances, and personal hobbies (all of which would appear in a CV). This article is exactly like 100's, if not 1000's of other articles for actors here on Wikipedia. Could you please direct us to an actor article that you feel meets the criteria that you are setting for this one. Thanks ahead of time for your help in this matter.
