The split from the Taradale article
[edit]Is there a benefit to splitting this article from Taradale, New Zealand and creating a stub? I'm inclined to think one article would suffice. Is there perhaps a benefit I'm not seeing? Nurg (talk) 10:35, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with redirecting it back to Taradale. @Paewiki: for comment.-gadfium 18:42, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- Looking in more detail at Taradale and Greenmeadows, and noting that these are very populous areas, with 12,456 people in five statistical areas in Taradale "proper", and 5,562 people in three statistical areas in Greenmeadows, I think a separate article on Greenmeadows is justified despite the historical connection with Taradale. I see that Google maps and Open Street Maps mark it as a named area, and local businesses such as New World Greenmeadows and Doctors Greenmeadow incorporate the name. There is a Greenmeadows School. If I look up the addresses of these businesses/this school, they give Greenmeadows as the suburb. By contrast, Bledisloe School, which is in the statistical area of Bledisloe Park, has a street address in the suburb of Taradale, so I would not consider Bledisloe to be a suburb in its own right and have included Bledisloe Park as one of the five statistical areas of Taradale.-gadfium 04:25, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- After taking another look, happy for the articles to be re-merged. Paewiki (talk) 02:07, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- Since we started this discussion, Statistics New Zealand have created SA3 statistical areas, which cover the area of one or more SA2 statistical areas. Greenmeadows is a single SA3 area and three SA2 areas. Taradale is a single SA3 area and five SA2 areas. I now think the split was correct.-gadfium 02:29, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
