Good Morning,

Greenfield Community College has a new logo that should be implemented to this page. Please let me know how I can go about changing this information. Starynight94 (talk) 12:48, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

recent history

[edit]

In 2023, the college hired an outside firm to look at its situation with respect to DEI. The college president was unhappy with the firm's work and secretly canceled the firm's contract. In early 2024, the firm sent a negative letter to the president. The content of the letter leaked. The campus was divided on the situation. This is presented in a long article: https://www.chronicle.com/article/how-a-damning-report-on-racial-climate-divided-this-campus?sra=true. It is also discussed at https://www.gazettenet.com/GCC-union-seeks-dismissal-of-provost-though-call-for-president-s-resignation-fails-55803516 This does not seem like a transient event of no great significance. Thus, I recommend that this affair is added to the history of the college.

Community colleges in the state offer free tuition to students over 24 due to recent legislation. Should this be included somewhere?

The college got a $200K grant in the summer of 2024. It was for "clean energy training programs" (https://www.wwlp.com/news/local-news/franklin-county/greenfield-community-college-awarded-200k-grant-for-clean-energy-training-programs/). Also see https://www.recorder.com/Greenfield-Community-College-to-bolster-green-workforce-with-HVAC-training-program-52478027. Is this worth including?
