Redirect
[edit]This needs to be redirected to Olathe School District per WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. If Sandy Hook Elementary School does not get a standalone page after what happened there, then this school doesn't merit one either. A structure fire likely caused by juvenile vandals does not mean this school merits a page in a global encyclopedia when a massacre at a school does not cause it to merit a page. If you want to change Wikipedia general guidelines, I would suggest starting a discussion on that subject at the Village Pump or Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Common outcomes. 331dot (talk) 22:04, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES is currently being discussed for the deletion or complete changing of that policy. And if it were me, I'd rechallenge the deletion of the Sandy Hooks Elementary article. It really needs a standalone article. Philmonte101 😊😄😞 (talk) 22:06, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware of that, but I wouldn't hold my breath. 331dot (talk) 22:11, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- User:331dot Fine, but I only redirected because the Kansas school is only known in the media for one event, and there is a scarce amount of info to be found elsewhere. This is an example of an article that is, unfortunately, truly unnotable. But it was my experimentation. Although, Green Springs Elementary School (Ohio) merits an article because it is not WP:ONEEVENT and not WP:COI and the dates of the news articles are various and various news articles are presented and one book source. WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES is silly. Every school should be discussed individually. Either that, or all schools, not just high schools, should be inherently notable just like geographical locations. Philmonte101 😊😄😞 (talk) 22:12, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- SCHOOLOUTCOMES doesn't preclude discussion; it simply states how most of the discussions turn out. Most of the time, I agree. 331dot (talk) 22:14, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, not most, but many elementary and middle schools have significant coverage in the media and some coverage in books, and are geographical locations, and are attended by hundreds if not thousands of people, and are a part of people's everyday lives for years. If that's still not supposed to be notable even in the many cases where there are a significant amount of various sources, then pigs just evolved to have wings. Note: this Kansas school is not an example of a notable article yet. Philmonte101 😊😄😞 (talk) 22:21, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
