This page really ought to explain why they don't just use alpha, beta, gamma etc. - those would appear to be distinctiv enuff all by themself. ò.o --Tropylium 18:28, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Church translation

I believe the proper translation for 'Ν' (ναός naós), would be 'Temple' rather than 'church'. Church (εκκλησία) mainly is used to describe the people not the building. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.210.23.28 (talk) 11:23, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed this chunk because it's not clear what relevant point it's making:

The Greek alphabet contains seven vowels and seventeen consonants, a total of twenty-four symbols. In addition, there are seven vowel diphthongs, namely: "αι" /ɛ/, "ει"/ɪ/, "οι"/ɪ/, "αυ"/af/ or /av/, "ευ"/ɛf/ or /ɛv/, "ου"/u/ and "υι"/iː/. ^[1]
