This is just the start. There's a lot of work to be done, more research, better organization, more links and references, etc. wbfergus 20:04, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Greek Air Force first landed on Okinawa for refuelling. I was in the Army then and stationed at Kadena Air Force Base where I first met many of the group. I later met them again at Kimpo Air Force Base. The group talked me into flying back to Nagoya Japan with them. On return, we were met with reporters from the Stars and Stripes. The party consisted of Major Andrew Gorenko who was the Commander of the Hellenic Air Force Detachment. Others included Lt. Jim Polymenakos of Sparta, and Lt. Maglinis of Athens. A photo appeared in the Stars and Stripes noting that an American of Greek decent had met and traveled with the group. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexVallas (talkcontribs) 20:02, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Remmnants and dates

[edit]

I'm a bit concerned with a sentence in the 'Battalion timeline' section, 1951: "January 16: Remnants sweeping operation at Wolaksan, Haseoksan, Munsusan and Sinseol summits."
One of my dictionaries defines 'remmnants' as: "small remaining quantity, or piece or number". The impression given is that the survivors of some action carried out a 'sweeping operation' on some hills - and I don't think that was the original intention.
A better description might be: 'elements of the battalion conducted a sweeping operation ...'.
By the way, what is a 'sweeping operation'?

I know one is not meant to alter quotes (and I include citations), but I was sorely tempted when I noticed in the 'Awards and recognitions' section "during the period 17 June to 18 June" and then not half a line later "...on the evening of June 17" !
