Merge proposal

[edit]

I propose merging Greeks in South Korea to this article Greece-South Korea relations. This is as a potential alternative to deletion which was suggested earlier by another editor but then refused by the article creator. The topic of Greeks in South Korea appears to fall well short of the general notability guideline; the only source I can dig up is the one already mentioned in the article, which devotes barely a few sentences to the topic.

I think that Greece-South Korea relations is a better merge target than any other article. The information about 100 Greeks in South Korea is fairly trivial in the context of either Greek diaspora or Immigration to Korea, which both involve millions of people (and also, I don't see any good way to resolve the general question of which one should be the redirect target); in contrast, in articles about bilateral relations, inserting the factoid about the small number of foreign nationals each country has in the other and what they're doing there matches up well with other factoids likely to belong in the article in the future (e.g. dollar values of trade volumes, amount and type of foreign aid, dates of exchanges of government/military personnel, etc.).

As an example of how this could be done, see Malaysia-South Korea relations; I merged Malaysians in South Korea, an article I created a while ago, to there, in a new section called "Movement of people". Thanks, cab (talk) 11:01, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and redirected. There is nothing sourced in the article, and nothing worth merging. As I noted to the editor interested in maintaining the article, the lack of reliably sourced information is a major problem. Any sourced material that anyone unearths can be added here. The content was verified by the link provided. In fact, it was a very thinly-rewritten version of one sentence from the link provided. So it doesn't fail WP:V, though it might fail WP:COPYVIO. Look for the section entitled "IV. Cultural relations The Greek community". cab (talk) 11:52, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll rephrase - There was no reliably sourced encyclopedic content in the article. Deiz talk 12:15, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
