Showground area
[edit]The GYS website has conflicting information; the 'About the Show" page states 450 acres while the "Facts and Figures" page quotes 250. I've mailed the GYS via the website asking for clarification; meanwhile I've removed the area from the article altogether. Tonywalton | Talk
- Confirmation now received from the Yorkshire Agricultural Society that the correct figure is 250 acres. They have amended their "About the Show" page accordingly and I'm putting that figure back in the article. Tonywalton | Talk 15:14, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
150th anniversary
[edit]If the first show was in 1838, 2008 was the 170th anniversary. Or do they mean the 150th time the show was put on, allowing for war years etc? Derek Andrews (talk) 16:31, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
- The latter. I've clarified the statement. Tonywalton Talk 18:30, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
2012 event
[edit]- A BBC TV news item on 10 July 2012 about the cancellation showed a bulldozer (likely there as an exhibit) towing a big lorry out of muddy ground, after the rain turned the ground into a hippopotamus wallow. (I saw similar ground conditions at the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show at Blackburn one year.) Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:23, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
