Unclear sentence about scars

"Adult males have typical scars from fighting and cookiecutter sharks normally present in the genus." What are "typical" scars? Is this a technical term or should this say "Adult males typically have scars ..."? And how are sharks present in a whale genus? I can't think what this is supposed to say. According to the Australian Museum,[1] both males and females may have circular scars from cookie-cutter sharks, while only males carry the linear scars that probably result from fighting. I'll try to make the text clearer. --Avenue (talk) 14:03, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
