I encourage anyone interested in social history, obscure words, or historical fiction to read this delightful book. It is an open window on 19th century American life. Fortunately, as it was a Book-of-the-Month Club selection, a large number of copies were printed, and are available quite cheaply. Sofia Roberts 17:03, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
