First Movement D major ? And 1843, not 1847 or 1848?

I've generally seen the first movement interpreted as being in B minor (ending in D); the opening several bars are certainly D major but the movement goes to and fro around B minor after that. (Now speculatively and aside from the point, there's the conjecture - that Liszt's B minor sonata was partially inspired by the Quasi-Faust. A book (Kenneth Hamilton, Liszt: Sonata in B Minor, CUP, 1996) on Liszt's sonata notes "it would certainly be convenient if we could prove Liszt knew" Alkan's 1848 work by 1853. ) Schissel | Sound the Note! 17:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
