Make It Timeless

[edit]

The comment "22-year-old Grace Potter" will have to be revised every year on her birthday (which I don't know). How about adding information about her birthday to the Grace Potter page and deleting this phrase? Bill Jefferys 01:48, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Billjefferys (talkcontribs) 00:33, 6 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I agree, I think a reference perhaps to her age at the time the band formed or signed with a record label with a reference would do the trick, show how young the bandmates are, (as she's said she met them whilst in school pursuing a vocation in art) should make the point and not need updating continually. From the number of You Tube videos I've seen, tey tour a lot from what I've surmised; they should have plenty of local, and at least national newspapers and magazines speaking about them.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 11:06, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blind?

[edit]

for what it's worth, i've heard before 2007 that grace is legally blind —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.195.213.199 (talk) 04:58, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

confirmation: http://www.idahostatesman.com/131/story/205783.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.100.45.121 (talk) 11:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alas the Idaho link is now dead. If a new confirmation can be found, I'd say the fact could be integrated into (a new, if still none) Personal segment of the article. Since the article serves as the GPotter page. Other band members' facts could be integrated there, too, then. Swliv (talk) 19:20, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
An article in the April/May 2010 Relix magazine, reproduced at the official Grace Potter website, confirms this fact: she is "legally blind" (i.e., she has really bad eyesight without glasses):

In many ways, Grace is still that shy little girl in the window—although you’d never guess it given the confidence she exudes in her live show. However, in impromptu settings like the house party where Burr will be playing later tonight, she doesn’t like to perform. She pretends it’s because she’s trying to be private, but it’s really just stage fright. For her, actually seeing the faces of her audience is too intimate. It may also explain why she chooses to go on stage each night without wearing glasses or contact lenses—she’s legally blind without them and can’t see more than a few feet in front of her. It’s ironic that someone who has always interpreted the world in such a cinematic way experiences her own art with blurry vision.[1]

Thanks for the citation. It's nice. Somehow, I'm not myself now moved to start the Personal section with it as I proposed above, but it certainly could now be done. Swliv (talk) 22:51, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on it! Got a nice one of mostly Grace there, but should find one shortly (or take it myself) ;) --Leahtwosaints (talk) 11:06, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Needless 'citation needed'?

[edit]

Why would "Falling or Flying" appearing on the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack need a citation? All anyone has to do to check is look at Grey's Anatomy Volume 3 Original Soundtrack, and there it is, at track 6. Surely the CD is itself sufficient verification of what's on the CD! This is an article about Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

[edit]

This article is supposed to be about "Grace Potter and The Nocturnals", but is largely about Grace Potter. If you type 'Grace Potter' into the search box, you come up with this article, not an article about Grace Potter herself.

There should be separate articles (with appropriate links) about Grace Potter, the musician, and the group "Grace Potter and The Nocturnals". These are distinct entities. Bill Jefferys (talk) 03:07, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree completely. It's annoying when one is trying to find specific information about her and they're redirected to the band's page. She is a significant enough entity to deserve her own page, as does the band. This is also consistent with wikipedias other band articles.--Tornvmax (talk) 22:09, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

i.e. Searching Jimi Hendrix doesn't redirect you to the Jimi Hendrix experience.--Tornvmax (talk) 09:20, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, at least it isn't getting confused with the Grace Slick/Wing article. Also, odd to not mention her in the list of artists to compare when she's covered White Rabbit and you can here the same kind of singing that the older artist did. 67.161.157.179 (talk) 15:48, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sources do not belong in External links, but they DO belong here...

[edit]

These sources do not belong in External links. I have moved the link farm from there to this talk page where they do belong. Warning! I didn't check them to see if they follow criteria per WP policy, so be careful in choosing any potential references I've moved here. Thank you! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 16:42, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Split Grace into her own article

[edit]

As mentioned two years ago (see above), it is certainly time to split Grace into her own article. She is doing too many independent activities and releasing her own EP. This article has been tagged with a split proposal template.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 22:14, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the article should be split in two. The band has enough significant presence to deserve it's own article, and Grace Potter has done enough solo work to support a separate article. If the split doesn't occur, the article should be renamed Grace Potter, and a separate section with the article should be created for the band. Mburrell (talk) 22:49, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree but I think each band member should have their own page, each is significantly involved in other projects.

It's possible the nocturnals broke up and Tournet for one isn't in the band anymore and Grace just tours solo under her name. http://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/soundbites-wtf-is-going-on-with-grace-potter-and-the-nocturnals/Content?oid=2553601 Popish Plot (talk) 15:31, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
never mind I see a more recent source quotes her saying the nocturnals might return. http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/08/grace-potter-anything-but-nocturnal-1.html Popish Plot (talk) 15:39, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals discography

[edit]

Support split - Discography section is one third of the page. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:47, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Support split - Jax is correct, the discography section is large enough to deserve it's own entry Mburrell (talk) 04:27, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
