Democratic republic???

[edit]

The opening sentence here claims that "The government of Nevada is defined under the Constitution of Nevada as a democratic republic..." I don't find any such definition in the Nevada constitution [1], and I don't think it is correct. Democratic republic is generally taken to mean a country, and Nevada is not a country; it is a state, part of the democratic republic of the United States of America, as its constitution makes clear. See article 1, section 2, "Purpose of government; paramount allegiance to United States." I have tagged this statement as "citation needed", and I propose to change it after discussion here --MelanieN (talk) 18:22, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In the absence of comment, I will go ahead and change it to be more in line with the opening sentence of other state government articles. --MelanieN (talk) 15:41, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
