Assessment

[edit]

I have assessed this as Start Class, as it contains more detail and organization than would be expected of a Stub, and of low importance as it is a highly specific topic within Canada. Cheers, CP 15:48, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Louis Riel drama held at Government House in '60s and '70s

[edit]
Louis Riel testifies at his trial

There is no reference to such play in any article on Louis Riel, which solely represented the Regina trial, set out in the ball room faithfully to this historical photo. Audience members were placed in the jury's seats precisely as in the historical photo. An eminent Regina lawyer then practising at MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman, once resident on McIntosh Street, and besides his legal career a stage actor, played Riel's part in the play. This would have been among the few cultural uses Government House had during that period and deserves mention. Is there information on the playwright, the play and the production? Masalai (talk)
