I would like to bring this article, which I created long ago, to GA quality. This includes going over the sources, because some used so far are not regarded as reliable. I'd also like to improve the citations to sfn referencing, as all Bach cantata articles of Ga and FA quality have. My approach is to do that step by step, to make the process transparent, even if it means that for a short time, there will be references of different style. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:00, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Campelli created the article using untemplated citations. What is your rationale for changing the style? Which specific citations do you feel need to be replaced? Nikkimaria (talk) 17:08, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Francis Schonken doesn't accept Bach Cantatas Website, and Brian Boulton didn't accept Mincham. I'm sorry about my bad memory about the creation. (I even made a note of Campelli on my user page. That user has made three edits in 2017 and nothing later. May we improve beyond the style of the early Wikipedia in 2020?)
As just said above, all Bach cantata GAs and FAs use sfn citation. I believe that untemplated citations are fine for editors who are familiar with the concept, but not for editors who may want to make changes later, and are not. Parameters explain what is what, making it easier for them. How would I link to different pages of an online book without sfn? Compare Clara Schumann. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:42, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Untemplated citations are better for editors who are not familiar with the concept, as they don't need to know anything other than how they want the citation to look - and if it should look different, that can be changed directly without knowing how templates work. Do you recall the rationale for not accepting Mincham, or where to look for that discussion? Nikkimaria (talk) 18:00, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I forget about improving this article then, but still want to add Dürr/Jones. (Actually, I had alrady done that and ran into edit conflict.) How do I write links to the four pages? - I don't know exactly when Brian said that, saying that he knew him personally, and as a nice guy, but no authority, and self-published, - perhaps check FAC and/or my talk. The first he participated in was BWV 4. And that's where I found some: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Christ lag in Todes Banden, BWV 4/archive1. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:48, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
