German Heer and Luftwaffe Rank
[edit]In the text it describes the commanders of some German Divisions as Brigadier or Brigadier General, although the rank Brigade Fuhrer(roughly tranposed as Brigadier General) exists in the S.S. there has never been that rank in the Heer or Luftwaffe. Officer Ranks of Heer and Luftwaffe General-Field Marshall Colonel General General of Infantry/Panzer/Artillery etc... Lieutenant General Major General Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Major Captain Lieutenant 2nd Lieutenant --86.21.136.74 (talk) 19:57, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm. I think this is because the German ranks have been translated into English so officers with the rank of Colonelgeneral are described as General, those ranking as General der (XXX) are described as lieutenant-general, leutnantgenerals are called major-generals and Generalmajors as brigadier-generals. Split
[edit]This OOB covers a long period of time and is very messy because of the many changes in that period. I am proposing to split this into two pages: The current page will cover the OOB only for Operation Olive and the subsequent continuation offensives through to the end of December 1944 and a new page setting out the OOB for the Spring offensive in April / May 1945. Any objections? Stephen Kirrage talk - contribs 00:00, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
