Goncharov (1973)

[edit]

As a note, members of the social media site, tumblr, have been creating movie posters, fan works, and other media around a film titled Goncharov from 1973, directed by Martin Scorsese.

This movie is in no way, shape, or form real, but if you search tumblr, you will find a lot of evidence that would suggest that it is.

I would suggest creating a page about the fake media to prevent people from trying to learn about a non existent film.

Please note that Martin Scorses’s filmographies on Wikipedia has already been updated multiple times, to include or remove the fake film, and, as the fake movie poster also lists Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Cybil Shepherd as cast members, there’s likely to be attempts to change those as well. 208.102.126.86 (talk) 20:50, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted that I have added an entry to List of Internet phenomena which accurately describes Goncharov (1973) as fictional, and a link to it on this disambiguation page. I'm not sure that it is yet notable enough to have its own page as it is yet to be seen if it will have any lasting notability or coverage that would justify it, but since it's been covered in reliable sources, I'm pretty sure that the list entry should be acceptable.
It's also worth mentioning that I've created Goncharov (film) as a redirect to the aforementioned list entry. This should be of assistance to anyone trying to search for the film under the mistaken impression that it's real, but there is a possibility that someone may replace the redirect with a WP:HOAX article. I'll revert it if such a thing occurs and no one else undoes it first, but just mentioning it here in case anyone else thinks it necessary to watch it. silvia (inquire within) 20:55, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
