Programming
Is it normal to just wipe out text like that due to poor tone, rather than rewrite? I found that paragraph on programming useful. This article is so small, does it really matter? NutrisaurusRex (talk) 17:04, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

- Section is copied verbatim from a published book without permission or quotation. Also, flies in the face of common sense, good business practice, and the experience of a freelance programmer; lacks evidence other than this one "programming for dummies" book, which is hardly an authority on freelance programming; and, frankly, counts as libel if directed at a specific person. I suspect that editor seized on the tone as an excuse to get rid of it.
- By the way, ShadowRangerRIT, this is a public-use computer, so writing on this discussion page is probably a more effective way of getting back to the original author (who I am not) than leaving messages to the IP. 128.135.24.238 (talk) 02:25, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
- That's a legitimate reason for removal. Though rewriting it with paraphrasing would be the ideal solution. Will look into that later. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 23:26, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
- No, I don't think it should be rewritten, because it's wrong. Unless the rewrite can cite anybody other than this one programming for dummies book that has ever mentioned such a practice, I don't think it has any place on Wikipedia. 24.1.1.205 (talk) 22:30, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
