Notability
[edit]The notability of the topic is established by coverage in significant media outlets including NBC Chicago, and major non-self-published online sources such as The Stranger and The Daily Dish. --Nat Gertler (talk) 16:17, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- The Stranger and The Daily Dish are blog sites and therefore do not meet WP:RS. The NBC Chicago site is a legitimate news organization, but seriously, are we going to write articles about every single sign that counter-protesters hold up? You'd be working on that for YEARS! WTF? (talk) 04:15, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- You seem to have misunderstood the reliable sources guidelines as applied to blogs. If you check WP:BLOG, you will find that certain sorts of blogs are disallowed because they are self-published. The Daily Dish was not self-published; it was published by The Atlantic at the time of the article, a magazine with a history of over a century-and-a-half. SLOG is published by the alternative weekly The Stranger. --Nat Gertler (talk) 05:40, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Most blogs fail WP:RS, although I suppose you could technically consider something like the Huffington Post a "blog", which in some cases could pass as being reliable. Although even the HuffPo's editorial control is less so than most standard newspapers. As for the SLOG "article", which should say "slop article", IMHO -- you've got to be kidding me? That's not an article. That's a photo with a two sentence description, and a third sentence pointing to a link to a larger version of the image. That's not journalism! That's sensationalist garbage! WTF? (talk) 14:37, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
