Association with multiple myeloma

BMC Immunol. 2008 May 28;9:22. Humoral immunoreactivity to gliadin and to tissue transglutaminase is present in some patients with multiple myeloma.Juranic Z, Radic J, Konic-Ristic A, Jelic S, Mihaljevic B, Stankovic I, Matkovic S, Besu I, Gavrilović D.

"Statistical analysis of data obtained revealed that only the levels of anti-tTG-2 IgA immunoreactivity in patients with MM were significantly higher than these obtained in healthy controls (P < 0.02) CONCLUSION: Data obtained showed the existence of the enhanced serum immunoreactivity to gliadin, tTG-2 and Ro/SSA antigens in some patients with MM. These at least partially could contribute to the immunological imbalance frequently found in this disease."

Häuser W, Gold J, Stein J, Caspary WF, Stallmach A. " Sixty-seven percent adhered all the time to the dietary regimen and 26% adhered most of the time. The most frequent diseases associated with coeliac disease were osteoporosis (15%), oral aphtae (12%) and dermatitis herpetiformis (9%). Because of the presence of gastrointestinal symptoms 26% of the patients met the modified Rome I criteria for irritable bowel symptom. Compared to representative samples from the German population, coeliac disease patients had higher scores for anxiety , fatigue, dyspeptic and musculoskeletal pain, and a reduced HRQOL in 9/10 scales of the SF-36 (all P<0.001). CONCLUSION: Despite being on a gluten-free diet German coeliac disease patients suffer from a high burden of general and extra-intestinal symptoms and a reduced HRQOL.

Avitaminosis. Avitaminosis caused by malabsorption in GSE can result in decline of fat soluble vitamins and vitamin B, as well as malabsorption of essential fatty acids. This can cause a wide variety of secondary problems. Hypocalcinemia is also associated with GSE.

I am trying to make a simple spelling correction - "Hypocalcinemia" to the proper spelling of "Hypocalcemia" and it throws the whole section off and causes an "Unknown Error". HELP! ErikBly (talk) 20:20, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
