[edit]"or Paesieixo". Does this variant appear in a contemporary document? What does Grove's say? --Wetman 23:43, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's a scanning error from the 1911 EB import and should be Paesiello (only -ai- v. -ae- different). Lots of respectable websites give the -ae- variant. I shall now change it.
"Two far greater composers"?
[edit]This is pure opinion, and seems to violate Wikipedia:Neutral Point of View. It is one certainly not held by me, and I`m sure I am not alone in that regard. I think that this should be removed. I looked up this article because I was listening to Paisiello`s "Il barbiere di Siviglia" this morning, and was disappointed to find such slant in the article. I am sure I am not the only one in the world who considers him to have been a great composer. Smyslov 2 June 2006
Removed it again. I for one do not consider Cherubini or Méhul to have been greater composers than Paisiello, and this statement is violation of Neutral Point of View. Smyslov 17:42, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Consigned to oblivion?
[edit]"Il Barbiere di Siviglia", it is now acknowledged as Rossini's greatest work, while Paisiello's opera is consigned to oblivion'
What? Paisiello's "Barbiere" consigned to oblivion?
- "...is known only to connoisseurs of opera"? "...is only infrequently produced"/ What? --10:43, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
I accept your second proposal.
List of Works should have its own article
[edit]The newly added list of works is great. Could we split it off into its own article? DavidRF (talk) 14:47, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
List of works source. . .
