There are two reasons for questioning the location for this site;
1. Topographical clues within the narrative state that it is located east of Jericho, which means that it can be placed anywhere between the Jordan and anywhere uphill fron the river plain.s
2. Tactical considerations preclude the suicidal use of an unprotected plain.
