[edit]I am starting this page, despite having seen a previous try, because I think the story is an important part of Milwaukee history and popular culture. The story was of daily interest to Milwaukee for an extended period of time and eventually caught world-wide attention in the military's "Stars & Stripes" publication and "Life" magazine. Are there any photos of Gertie or of the statue that are public domain and available to put in the entry?Nickeyrc (talk) 15:58, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Duplicate article?
[edit]Perhaps this article and Gertie the Duck (Gillen) should be merged?

Proposed merge with Gertie the Duck (Gillen)
[edit]There seems to be a rather large overlap between the two articles. The statue article could easily be covered as a section in the Gertie (Bird) article. Dolotta (talk) 23:41, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- Seems like a good idea; could be similar to how the article Make Way for Ducklings covers both the book and the Boston sculpture. 32.218.47.105 (talk) 23:53, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- Another option is Juneau Park.—CaroleHenson (talk) 14:48, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- Done - I created a Juneau Park#Gertie the Duck section with a bit of info - and also merged Gertie the Duck (Gillen) to Gertie the Duck.—CaroleHenson (talk) 15:42, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for doing this CaroleHenson. It's appreciated!!! Dolotta (talk) 14:01, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
- My pleasure.—CaroleHenson (talk) 16:03, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
