This page does not accurately reflect the injustice system of the USA (then). I think the term "vacated" needs to be explained. Vacated seems to be a technical term for MISJUDGED WITHOUT TAKING RESPONSIBILTY, i.e. a cop-out for the US justice system. It is in breach of human rights (and actual enforcable law) and should be able to stand as such. Of course right-wingers are happy to falsify history, as they have done since history was written-down by scribes. Wikipedia must not be ideological, and stay factual and explanatory. 203.184.62.92 (talk) 23:07, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow...could you possibly make this article more biased? Did Pratt write this crap himself? Actually this article contains quite a few negatives and falsehoods that place Geronimo in a bad light, One being that he was a member of the Eldridge Cleaver renegade faction of the Party, since I was there I can tell you that is not known for sure. Also outrageous methods used buy the FBI in the COINTELPRO era with Pratt are tame compared to what happened to many other peopleOldpanther 13:07, 15 June 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oldpanther (talkcontribs)

Agreed, this page needs much change way way POV.Odin1 03:20, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I did a little, I fixed what I thought was rather POV as well as fixed grammatical and style errors.AlmightyAnthony 08:09, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Almighty Anthony, you did a great job of making this article more factual and neutral. But you also removed all references to cointelpro, which I think was a mistake. The cointelpro program worked at "neutralizing Pratt as an effective BPP functionary". See here and here. – Quadell (talk) (random) 17:41, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was hesitant to remove all of the references to COINTELPRO but could not find enough information to justify it being included. The information you have provided is adequate though. As you seem to know about it perhaps you would add something about it, you would be able to make it purely factual and accurate. I apologize for my mistake. AlmightyAnthony 08:18, 19 September 2006

I added a sentence about it, and reorganized again, removing duplicate info and a few lingering POV phrases (e.g. "highly decorated", "deeply commited") – Quadell (talk) (random) 14:20, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent job, this article looks far better. Thanks for your help. AlmightyAnthony 07:46, 20 September 2006

Just mentioned that there are existing wiretap records indicating that Pratt traveled to the Bay Area 2 days after the murders and 1 day after Julius Butler claimed Pratt told him about the murders. I also mentioned the possible existance of taps putting him in the Bay Area the day of the murders which have been lost or destroyed. Both are detailed at this link: http://www.icdc.com/~paulwolf/cointelpro/law/inrepratt112CalApp3d795.htm

When/why did he become Geronimo Ji Jaga?

[edit]

I worked at Deuel Vocational Institution from 1988-2002 as a Substitute Teacher in the academic program. I am pretty sure I recall Geronimo Pratt as a student in one of my classes. Does anyone know whether Geronimo was ever incarcerated at DVI?

The book "Last Man Standing" by Jack Olsen would probably answer your question. Keep in mind that this book has a strong pro-Pratt bias.Pokey5945 (talk) 15:38, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

One basic question I couldn't find an answer to is when and why Elmer Pratt became known as Geronimo Ji Jaga. Did he take the name himself, or did others call him "Geronimo" first? Did he adopt both "Geronimo" and "Ji Jaga" at the same time? I assume he changed his name after joining the Panthers, but the article has nothing on any of this. — ℜob C. alias ÀLAROB 15:06, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Innocent?

[edit]

There are some disturbing facts about the murder case, not mentioned in the article (just read "Last Man Standing"). 1.) The poor teacher and her husband WERE robbed and shot by two Black Panthers. Who had access to Pratt`s car (and his `45?). 1b.) The "underground" part of the LA section of the BPP, founded and led by ex-gang members WAS committing crimes right, left and center to fund the party: this is even in the very pro-Pratt, pro-Panthers book. 2.) The family-snapshot, that seemed to depict a bearded Pratt at Christmas, around the time of the murder, HAS a much later date. The argument of Pratt`s brother, who had "organized" the film from work, was that Polaroid prints future dates on it`s films to make them look fresher. This seems plausible, but is it a fact? 3.) (See the statement above by the old Panthers member) If Pratt was not in the Cleaver-faction, why was he expelled from the party by Newton? 3b.) Why DID Newton and the BPP leadership at first STATE, that Pratt was not in Oakland at the time of the murder? 3.) The book Last Man Standing denies any contacts between Pratt and George Jackson, Can this be true? Did he know Jackson`s brother? --217.88.60.99 (talk) 09:46, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bunchy Carter and John Huggins killed by COINTELPRO?

[edit]

The article states that "Bunchy Carter and John Huggins were killed by COINTELPRO infiltrators in the Us Organization." I, however, cannot find any evidence for this claim at all and think that it is very misleading. It should probably be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:14F:4403:1A6:C81:93E6:65B7:2F5F (talk) 16:56, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
