Reigned as Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale?

[edit]

Those were British peerage titles, not sovereign titles. GoodDay (talk) 19:53, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Family George V of Hanover.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on November 18, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-11-18. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 19:45, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

George V of Hanover and his family
A lithographed portrait of King George V of Hanover, his wife Marie of Saxe-Altenburg and their children Crown Prince Ernest Augustus (right), Princess Frederica (centre), and Princess Marie (left). George succeeded his father Ernest Augustus I as King of Hanover on 18 November 1851. His 15-year reign came to an end in 1866 when Prussia forcibly annexed Hanover in response to Hanover's support for Austria during the Austro-Prussian War.Artist: Julius Giere

Coat of Arms

[edit]

This article lists his arms from 1835 which he held as a second-tier British prince. What were his arms as King of Hanover? Robin S. Taylor (talk) 18:42, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The arms of Hanover without any marks of cadency, without the crown on the inescutcheon, but with the Crown of Charlemagne on the inescutcheon atop the first inescutcheon.JWULTRABLIZZARD (talk) 22:48, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Blindness

[edit]

This article says that George lost the sight in one of his eyes in 1828 and became completely blind in 1833. This contradicts Ernest Augustus, King of Hanover, which says that George was blind in one eye from infancy. He was 9 in 1828, not an infant. Surtsicna (talk) 20:18, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
