Referencing problems

[edit]

This URL is used in references repeatedly in this article, but is described differently each time. Some references are to the NYT, but use different titles, dates, and authors. Some referneces say the link is from the Washington Post, but it is obviously to the New York Times website. Maybe there's a better way to identify this kind of referencing problem, but for now I've tagged the linsk with {{fv}}. I don't have a NYT subscription, so I'm unable to sort out the actual links. -- Mikeblas (talk) 14:12, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Aboudaqn: I believe these references were placed during your recent edits. Are you able to help set them straight? -- Mikeblas (talk) 14:12, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Mikeblas: I have resolved these issues: thank you for taking the time and trouble to detect them.--Aboudaqn (talk) 16:48, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Excessive citations

[edit]

@Isaidnoway: While I appreciate your concern about number of citations, lack of standardization and variances of editors has led me to include more rather than less citations. Citations are handy and facilitate fact-checking: lack of citations lead people to challenge content for lack of corroboration (and most people will not go out and verify themselves, just criticize and move on). With regard to biographies that include political allegations (e.g., Wheeler's alleged loyalty to Communism vs. his record of US government service), since I have found information, I am sharing it. Thus, I disagree with you rather completely and am removing the notice at the top of the tnry. However, Isaidnoway, if you wish to suggest changes here under Talk, I am very keen to see them and always willing to learn! Last here but first to do is to read the entry, please, because Wheeler's story is full of allegations not just by US Government members but also by Wheeler himself. Respectfully --Aboudaqn (talk) 16:48, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What part of - do not remove maintenance templates until the issue is resolved - do you not understand? Either bundle them or remove the excessive ones. Isaidnoway (talk) 17:27, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Isaidnoway: Thank you for answering here on the Talk page for Wheeler, rather than my own Talk page. In response, I have addressed a large number of suggestions from other Wikipedians, who made specific recommendations; please do the same here on this page. Also, be sure to read the article itself, first! Respectfully --Aboudaqn (talk) 17:31, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
To be specific - either bundle them or remove the excessive ones. Isaidnoway (talk) 17:33, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
