Dubious

[edit]

I have severe doubts that George Seward, the subject of this article, was a Californian. From my research on the medical missionary doctor Sarah Cornelia Seward, I learned that she began her career with her brother George F Seward in China c. 1861-1865. Dr. Sarah Seward later departed to India in 1871, and established a dispensary at Allahabad. George and Sarah were the nephew and niece of William H. Seward, the US Secretary of State who engineered the purchase of Alaska from Russia. William H Seward and Sarah C Seward both were born in the town of Florida, New York. George F Seward also appears to have been born in this town. George F Seward was born the same year as the subject of this article, and appears to have served in China at the same time as the subject of this article. It seems highly likely that George F Seward is, indeed, the subject of this article. I find no evidence that George F Seward is from California. -- JeffBillman (talk) 03:00, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The primary source for this article confirms he's from Florida, NY. I've edited the page accordingly. -- JeffBillman (talk) 03:12, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
