Alternate Last Name Putman

[edit]

In various documents, news stories, etc. George Putnam husband of Amelia is named George Putman. The confusion existed during his life; TIGHAR has documents of the time calling him Putman. Many documents still make this mistake. For instance, http://convergencetheblog.wordpress.com/2008/05/20/amelia-earhart-george-putman-were-polyamorous/ http://www.ameliaearhart75thanniversary.com/did%20you%20know.htm (here it's spelled both ways) http://www.myhero.com/myhero/hero.asp?hero=a_earhart http://library.thinkquest.org/J001621/earhart.html To add to the confusion there is a Putman Publishing Company, http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/product-compint-0001212704-page.html as well as the G.P Putnam's Sons, which is the company founded by his grandfather (which is one way to ascertain which name is correct.) The article ought to have a sentence or two explaining that the alternate Putman is incorrect but has often been used. Researchers looking only for one will miss articles that use the other. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.232.138.222 (talk) 21:20, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalization of headers

[edit]

per https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Capital_letters#Section_headings the number itself serves as the capital, just as in article names like https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/1970s_energy_crisis . --Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 22:31, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
