Dropped

[edit]

In this article they write: "but the prosecution dropped upon the repeal of the tax."

I'm left thinking "dropped what"?

Todd Marshall Plantersville, TX

What did he say?

[edit]

So... what did he say to get him convicted of blasphemy? --Xer0 20:13, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He said, “I do not believe there is such a thing as a God” (The Last Trial for Atheism in England, 1871, 13)

He was not the last person convicted of blasphemy in England. That's John William Gott. See here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/John_William_Gott

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 18:08, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship to NZ PM Keith Holyoake

[edit]

It is mentioned with citation he was related to Keith Holyoake but at attempt to read it got me nowhere. It would be helpful if how they were related could be demonstrated in a way that can be read in the article. KH and his immediate family were Plymouth Brethren and therefore inapt to share George's secularist ideals and KH's wikipedia article does not mention George.Cloptonson (talk) 17:25, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Their relationship is also mentioned in Kiwi Keith by Barry Gustafson: "His paternal great-grandparents, Richard, [was] the cousin of George Jacob Holyoake". — LittleDwangs (talk) 18:34, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
