Genetic engineering procedure?

[edit]

Just copyedited this and dumped a bunch of repeated sentences. This article should probably be renamed Genetic engineering procedure, as that is what it describes. Another article (or a much expanded version of this could cover the specific techniques in appropriate depth. The excitement in the field is about CRISPR, which wasn't even mentioned... Feedback encouraged. Lfstevens (talk) 05:22, 26 December 2014 (UTC)f[reply]

Came back 3 years later and still no CRISPR. Added mention of Gene trapping, but this still seems unbalanced. Lfstevens (talk) 01:30, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Seems as if CRISPR has been added to the main article. I agree that upgrading and improving existing articles seems to be less "en vogue" for wikipedia-maintainers than creating a new article. 2A02:8388:1600:A200:3AD5:47FF:FE18:CC7F (talk) 01:49, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Gene of Interest" definition is missing

[edit]

The article refers to the "Gene of Interest" about 3 times in the article or more than that. However had, it never defines this term. I know what the term means and many who like genetics know that too, but for average viewers it should not be ASSUMED that they know. Thus, the "gene of interest" should be DEFINED. Either in a new article, or briefly within the article here itself. Right now the article introduces that terminology, but never objectively determines what is meant with that. (I could add it, but I may be biased and want to avoid any conflict of interest, so I would like to convince other wikipedia folks that this explanation I just gave has merit). 2A02:8388:1600:A200:3AD5:47FF:FE18:CC7F (talk) 01:51, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
