Copyright, license

While the GSF documentation says "may be distributed without restriction", code only contains copyright notices from SAIC and no license to use the code. At the 2014-02 MB-System workshop, I found out that http://www.leidos.com/ just spun out of SAIC and will be taking the SABRE and GSF work for the US Navy with them. --Goatbar (talk) 15:33, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Availability of specifications and library from Leidos

[edit]
Resolved

I've updated the article to point to the GSF page on Leidos' website (it's no longer available from www.saic.com). The Leidos page has the same info that was on the SAIC page, but does not have the download links for the GSF spec and library.

I'll contact the GSF library maintainers and Leidos tomorrow and see I can find out whether there are plans to make the downloads available again. Mitch Ames (talk) 13:38, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

According to an e-mail I received today from Leidos "Within the next week I expect to be fully transitioned onto the Leidos website, with functioning links." Mitch Ames (talk) 10:03, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The MB-System source release contains a copy of GSF. ftp://ftp.ldeo.columbia.edu/pub/MB-System --Goatbar (talk) 21:43, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Version 03.06 has been made available to existing registered users. According to an e-mail I received from Leidos, they still plan to make it available on their website, but they haven't given a time frame. Mitch Ames (talk) 09:48, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
v03.06 is now downloadable from Leidos' website, so I've updated the article accordingly. Mitch Ames (talk) 13:02, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

License change

 Done

I have two sources confirming that GSF version 3.05 is LGPLv2 licensed. I've looked at a pre-release of the code that is in fact LPGL v2. Leaving this info in Talk until it's officially released. --Goatbar (talk) 19:28, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Any idea when v3.05 is going to be released? Mitch Ames (talk) 04:04, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Per #Availability of specifications and library from Leidos above, I have v03.06, which uses GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 (LGPL-2.1). Mitch Ames (talk) 09:51, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Article updated now that v03.06 is available on Leidos' web site. Mitch Ames (talk) 13:11, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
