Work
[edit]...is what this needs. The article shows what a couple of possibly unsupervised educational assignments can do. I started cleaning up; you run into stuff like this, with all the hallmarks of sophomoric writing: vagueries not directly related to the topic, original research and editorializing, and the addition of material supported by the provided citation. New Possible Sources
[edit]- Calasanti, Toni. 2007. "Bodacious Berry, Potency Wood and the Aging Monster: Gender and Age Relations in Anti-Aging Ads". Social Forces.
- This is a peer-reviewed journal article, it should be a reliable source. This article has taken many examples of dialogue in advertisements as well as peoples perception of these messages.
- Törrönen, Jukka; Rolando, Sara. 2016. "Women's changing responsibilities and pleasures as consumers: An analysis of alcohol-related advertisements in Finnish, Italian, and Swedish women's magazines from the 1960s to the 2000s". Journal of Consumer Culture.
- This is a peer-reviewed journal that looked at data collected from the 1960s-2000s from various magazines in Europe. This will help identify if there are/ what are the global similarities on this topic.
- Galdi, Silvia; Maass, Anne; Cadini, Mara. 2013. "Objectifying Media: Their Effect on Gender Role Norms and Sexual Harassment of Women". Psychology of Women Quarterly.
- This article was published in a psychology journal and evaluates two studies. These studies looked at how men responded to being shown videos in which women were presented as sexual objects to understand how their view of these women, and women in general, would be shaped by this content.

Title Change
[edit]Since this article has been flagged as being similar to the page 'Gender Advertisements' I think that a name change would be helpful. I am proposing the new name for this article be 'Gender Presentation in Advertising'. Open to suggestions. I want people to be able to easily find this article and understand what it is all about. Madmeeko (talk) 19:14, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- The current title sacrifices accurately describing what the article is talking about for the sake of brevity. Brands are not trying to convince people to subscribe to the concept of gender. "Gender in advertising" or "Gender presentation in advertising" would be better. 93 (talk) 00:36, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
