Unreferenced notes?

[edit]

What is the purpose of [6], [7], [8] etc. in the text? They look like references to footnotes, but no corresponding notes are given. -- Picapica (talk) 22:53, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Footnotes seemed to be copy-pasted from the corresponding article in Dutch. Fixed them to link to the actual referenced sources.--Cinoreros (talk) 00:16, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

pronunciation

[edit]

@IvanScrooge98 Hi, I think the IPA should rather be [ˈɣeːrt burˈʑʋa], [t] because of the discussion we're having at Help:IPA/Dutch but also because the sound file makes a very clear break, and then short vowels for [burˈʑʋa] because it simply is pronounced like in French (with a different 'r'), at least in Belgium. This just one of the many pages where I have amended the Dutch IPA in accordance with the help. Once we reach an agreement there we can adapt the linked transcriptions. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 18:58, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My remark about the vowels is actually very specific for this page: if it's indicated as 'Flemish pronunciation' then it shouldn't have long vowels, whatever the general rules are. Exarchus (talk) 22:26, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The point still stands. At the moment the two labels are basically interchangeable since the help page does not differentiate between the two main variants and transcriptions may only change if Flemish uses a different diaphoneme from Netherlandic. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 23:15, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then strictly speaking you might need two /u/ phonemes: one native lengthening before /r/, and a non-native phoneme not lengthening. And then a non-native /a/ phoneme, not the product of shortening of /aː/ in unstressed syllables. It would be useful to find a reference for this, but I'm not sure this is described somewhere. Exarchus (talk) 09:13, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe my remark about two /u/ phonemes is wrong as the /u/ might be regularly short in an unstressed syllable (see Gussenhoven p.344). But this (Netherlandic) pronounciation has long [uː], so I'm not sure here. Exarchus (talk) 09:49, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The transcription of the same sound fragment at Dutch phonology is [ˈɣeːʀ̥t ˈbuːʁʒwa], with wrong stress, and in my ears the [u] is short, I don't hear 'boer' like in the NL sound fragment. Exarchus (talk) 18:51, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
