"The hardest disease"

[edit]

What did the signs say in Romanian that is translated here as "hardest"? "Cel mai tare"? "Cel mai greu"? Either way, I'd be inclined to guess that we should say in English "the worst disease", because they were probably making reference to the English-language song "Homophobia" by Chumbawamba: "Homophobia: the worst disease / You can't love whom you want to love in times like these." - 07:14, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't know what the signs said in Romania (I can't access the source I used for this anymore) but I agree that "the worst disease" is a much better translation. Thanks! Ronline 07:48, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Failed GA

[edit]

Not so much a failure, just a technical violation: its nominator, ROnline, has also contributed significantly to the article — OK for FA candidates but not for GAs. Someone else has to do it.

It's an excellent, well-sourced, well-illustrated article that could well meet the criteria. I suggest lengthening the intro, particularly the second graf, to include some of the material on related news events such as the counterdemos that's in the article. Daniel Case 03:50, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's a misunderstanding - you cannot REVIEW your own articles, you can nominate them at will, in fact most of the nominations are from editors, and it is actually even better that way (not that I think this is the right place to expand upon that). So, if you want to give the article a proper review, please do so (provided you haven't contributed to it too). Bravada, talk - 23:38, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I have cleared up my musinderstanding and I'm passing this one. With that out of the way, I have no significant objections, just suggestions for improvement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daniel Case (talkcontribs)
Nice of you to pass (even if you forgot to sign), but you need to provide a review too, commenting on how it fulfills GA criteria. Bravada, talk - 00:47, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA Status

[edit]

The same anon editor who removed the GA tag also added it to the WP:GA list, which was then reverted along with another article he passed that hadn't been nominated as vandalism. As such, I came by to check this out. The GA status of this article is odd- it was passed without a review, and then an editor posted an edit summary saying he was removing said pass, but didn't actually do it. Turns out though, that GayFest was actually already at WP:GA in a different section, so, to clear up any confusion, I'm going to give this article an actual review, so that it doesn't get it's status revoked when the editors that are currently checking up on the GA's come through.

So...

I judged this article on 7 criteria:

  1. Well-written: Pass
  2. Factually accurate: Pass
  3. Broad: Pass
  4. Neutrally written: Pass
  5. Stable: Pass
  6. Well-referenced: Pass
  7. Images: Neutral

Congratulations, it passes. I think the article has a couple of images that are unneeded and are just used for decoration, bu it's not enough that I would fail a nom for it, and it's certainly not enough for me to revoke GA status for. --PresN 17:46, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WHY do homosexuals use the rainbow?

[edit]

I want to be able to wear the rainbow and not be called GAY! And no, I'm not a homophobe! I just want to be STRAIGHT!

If you read the article on rainbow flag, you'll find out that this flag is not exclusively used by the LGBT community, but also represents peace and some ethnic groups, for example. The reason why this flag is used by LGBT people is because it represents diversity and hope, two important values in the context of gay rights and LGBT culture. GA Sweeps Review: On Hold

[edit]

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria. I'm specifically going over all of the "Meteorology and atmospheric sciences" articles. I believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. However, in reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that need to be addressed. I have made minor corrections and have included several points below that need to be addressed for the article to remain a GA. Please address them within seven days and the article will maintain its GA status. If progress is being made and issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted. If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. To keep tabs on your progress so far, either strike through the completed tasks or put checks next to them.

Needs an inline citation:

  1. "The impulsion or luring of another person in viewing the practice of sexual relations between persons of the same sex, as well as propaganda or any other acts of proselytism for the same purpose are punishable with imprisonment between one and five years."
  2. "The idea behind the festival was to offer some transparency for the gay community in Romania. This will be a week in which we will celebrate the right to be different from the majority while at the same time having solidarity with the rest of society. Romania must show that it lives in the Europe of 2004."
  3. "The parade was, however, supported by the Metropolitan Community Church in Bucharest, with the church's pastor, Diane Fisher, making a keynote address."

Other issue:

  1. Expand the lead a bit more to better summarize the article. See WP:LEAD for guidelines.
  2. The 2008 GayFest is not described as much as the prior events. Expand the section a bit more with any available information.

This article covers the topic well and if the above issues are addressed, I believe the article can remain a GA. I will leave the article on hold for seven days, but if progress is being made and an extension is needed, one may be given. I will leave messages on the talk pages of the main contributors to the article along with the related WikiProject so that the workload can be shared. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 00:01, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps Review: Failed

[edit]

Unfortunately, since the issues I raised were not addressed, I have regrettably delisted the article according to the requirements of the GA criteria. If the issues are fixed, consider renominating the article at WP:GAN. With a little work, it should have no problems getting back up to GA status. If you disagree with this review, you can seek an alternate opinion at Good article reassessment. If you have any questions let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article history to reflect this review. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 07:17, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
