History

[edit]

There's nothing at all about the history of the city, not even the Loray Mill Strike. The book Gastonia 1929 deals with this issue, but I have yet to read all the way through it. It would be great if someone who knew more about this than I do could add it to the article! -- hibou 17:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV

[edit]

Much of this page sounds like it was written by the Gastonia CoC, e.g., "Gastonia has a wide variety of shopping venues geared to satisfy any shopper." That stuff should be cleaned out and the facts stuck with. Also, I agree with the above that the Loray mill strike should be mentioned, as well as the utter loss of the textile industry in the region.24.117.148.50 04:31, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Accuracy

[edit]

I removed the part about being the home of Sundrop as it's completely incorrect. Many people in Gastonia believe that it is due to the presence of Choice Bottling Company (which is actually based in Lowell, NC now), but they are simply a major distributor of the beverage in the area now. The beverage itself is actually owned by Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up. Suamme1 19:26, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crime section

[edit]

An IP added a Crime statistics section. Two things I have to question. Is this really needed here? Is the source a reliable source? I'm uncertain as to the phrasing, but if the section is warranted, some of the facts in table might need to be checked and corrected. Can't really tell from trying to navigate the site if those numbers are correct. Also want to see what others think of the source. Thank you. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 04:12, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Gastonia, North Carolina/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

This article could easily be upgraded to B-Class if references were in-line and there was some tidying up done. One sub-section (Trivia) needs citations. --Mal 04:39, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
