Still a professional
[edit]Surely Gary is no longer playing professional snooker? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.203.254.1 (talk) 09:43, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

No consensus to move. I suggest waiting for a few months and then if a case can be made that this article is not the primary topic, this move be proposed again. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:46, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Gary Wilkinson → Gary Wilkinson (snooker player) – No indication of any primary topic. Page views in 2010: snooker 4616, rugby 907, basketball 91 3453 (in 2011). The view count for the snooker player is more than likely inflated by the fact that it currently occupies the primary topic slot. Marcus Qwertyus 20:58, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose You last argument is just a speculation and even if we discount the total page views of the last two article from the first, the primary topic would be the snooker player. (Page view stats in this case: snooker 3718, rugby 907 and basketball 91) Sir Armbrust Talk to me Contribs 21:19, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose – The stats clearly indicate that the snooker player is the primary topic. The total page views for the other articles are under 1000, which if you subtract from the total for the snooker article leaves 3500+ (if indeed 1000 readers were just "passing through"), over three times as many views. This player was also one of the top ranked players in the world at one stage, and enjoys a much hgher profile within his respective sport than the other two Gary Wilkinsons. - Support. I would agree completely with the above 2 opposes if those pageview numbers were correct. But the basketball player's article did not exist until Feb 2011, and since then it is getting somewhat more pageviews than the snooker player. Station1 (talk) 21:33, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- I overlooked that. Marcus Qwertyus 21:38, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- By the same token, the basketball player article has undergone some intense editing over the last few months so in reality doesn't really reflect the reader traffic. Historically the snooker player is the primary topic so it would be better to retain the status quo until the basketball article settles down; it could be the case the basketball player is the primary topic but we can't judge that accurately until the stats refelct a reading pattern rather than an editing pattern. This should be shelved and reviewed a year from now, otherwise its risks violating WP:RECENTISM. Betty Logan (talk) 21:41, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Didn't mean to suggest the basketball player was necessarily primary, only that primary topic was unclear. I'd have no objection if this were revisted in 6 months or a year, especially if the basketball player were linked directly from a hatnote. Station1 (talk) 22:00, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
