The software
Why there isn't an article on the software itself? And have everyone forgotten it's old name QuakeSpy? --Ypacaraí 17:08, 2005 Apr 2 (UTC)
I have corrected and updated the article now. It read too much like a GameSpy Industries self promotion and contained a lot of irrelevant information about Mark Surfas' personal career. I also removed a lot of references boasting how GameSpy compares favorably to other unrelated web companies. J. Straub 22:15, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
The article looks fine enough, but it does have some issues: QSpy was called QSpy well into 1997, and was only renamed "GameSpy" after the release of Hexen 2. I know this as a fact, as my Quake gaming over the Internet begain sometime around July 1997 and QSpy was still called QSpy. Now I might not be a reliable source, but the atricle does mention Hexen 2 as the naming change point, cross-refs with Hexen 2's article would pinpoint the approximate time when the name change was made. 189.180.65.144 (talk) 18:57, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Merger Info is Accurate
The transaction was a cash purchase of GameSpy funded by the private equity firm Great Hill Partners - same people who took IGN private in the previous year. Surfas turned down the offer to join the board and did not serve with management.
- With that extra info available, I was able to verify those facts as accurate. Might be worth restoring the original info then. Thanks for the info! DigitalAvatar 14:39, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Cleanup
This article contains POV and reads like an advertisement. It needs to be cleaned up.Some guy 18:01, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Doesn't really seem all that POV.... Outsidethewall 00:59, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
Link to Joe Powel is wrong. Please, fix.
I also don't think it sounds very POV. Does it seem POV to anyone else? If not, perhaps someone else would like to consider removing the cleanup tag, which has been in place for over a year. I work at a department at GameSpy and don't want to edit one of our own articles. Jschuur 00:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
It really does read like a PR article. RogerWilco was never a rival of Vent or Teamspeak. It tried to be. But neglect made it was bloatware. It was never improved upon even though the communities pleaded with Gamespy to do so. Instead, they stuck their button on the bottom of the installer and on the bottom of the UI. No mention of the MPlayer community switching to MPlayer Europe or MPlayer South Asia to avoid using Gamespy. No mention of how it took Gamespy a year to fix their integration of MPlayer's servers and games. No mention of how their slow to act attitude lead to companies making their own game server platform. For example Interplay's Dynaverse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.72.137.94 (talk) 15:49, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:GameSpyLogo.png
Image:GameSpyLogo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Dave Kosak
Why is there absolutely no mention of Dave Kosak? He's a founding member of GameSpy and was with it until February of this year. Revrant (talk) 22:42, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
GameSpy Comrade?
Why there is still no mentioning of GameSpy Comrade in the article, and why there is still no separate article for it? --Masterius (talk) 19:25, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

External links modified
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on GameSpy. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Added archive http://web.archive.org/web/20130222133146/http://au.pc.gamespy.com/articles/122/1227460p1.html to http://au.pc.gamespy.com/articles/122/1227460p1.html
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}
).

PlanetQuake?
Why does PlanetQuake redirect here? I wanted info on the famous PlanetQuake website, not the GameSpy product! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.187.23.68 (talk) 12:04, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
