"Supposedly" in regards to his birthdate

Hi, I'm not completely sure whether or not to ascribe an element of uncertainty when it comes to his DoB. The reason it's there in the first place is because every modern source claims that he was really born in 1837, however the reliability of these sources is questionable (i.e. genealogy sites, blogs)—nonetheless, contemporary sources, chiefly books and newspapers, which would be considered "reliable," list his birthdate as 1826.
